Sugar Land shoppers honor Frontline Workers through Sweet Cash Program.

From the City of Sugar Land:

The Sugar Land Office of Economic Development launched the Sweet Cash program in June to support Sugar Land businesses, frontline workers and the local economy as part of the #AllInForSLTX economic recovery campaign. To date, the program has given more than 1,150 gift cards to essential workers, a value of more than $20,000, thanking them for their immeasurable sacrifices and contributions to the community during these difficult times.

Through the Sweet Cash program, consumers can buy gift cards valued at $40 or more at any Sugar Land business and, in return, get a free gift card to a local Sugar Land business and give a free gift card to a frontline worker. With more than 2,000 gift cards still available to distribute back to consumers and give to frontline heroes, the Sweet Cash program continues to provide an opportunity for locals to support the Sugar Land business community. Sweet Cash has already driven more than $150,000 into the local economy, with the potential to reach a total of $200,000 for Sugar Land businesses by the end of the program.

The Sweet Cash team has already handed out gift cards to frontline workers at Sugar Land’s local H-E-B stores and to the Fort Bend Independent School District, with more distributions to come, including at Healthcare Heroes Week beginning on Sept. 21 at Sugar Land Houston Methodist, CHI St. Luke’s Health and Memorial Hermann hospitals.

“The Memorial Hermann Sugar Land family has been deeply moved by the support of the Sugar Land community through the ‘Sweet Cash’ gift card program. This small gesture reinforces the strength and resilience of our city and our commitment to support each other in turbulent times,” said Gerrit von Wenckstern, Marketing Director for the Memorial Hermann Health System.

“It is an honor for H-E-B partners to be recognized as part of the ‘Sweet Cash’ program.  H-E-B values the Sugar Land community and is proud to work and serve our customers across the state even in the toughest of times,” said Angie Wierzbicki, H-E-B Area Community Coordinator.

To participate in the Sweet Cash program and support Sugar Land frontline workers and local businesses, purchase a gift card at any Sugar Land business and submit proof of purchase at the online submission form on www.AllInForSLTX.com. For more information, visit www.AllInForSLTX.com.
