The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Infrastructure Planning Division will host an informative panel discussion titled “State of the Texas Power Grid” on Thursday, April 7th from 7:30 – 9:00 AM at the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce with University of Houston’s and Zero Carbon Cycle, LLC, Ed Hirs, District 26 Representative, Jacey Jetton, Fort Bend County Emergency Management Coordinator, Mark Flathouse and Bill Barnes with NRG, a Reliant Company. The panelists will discuss the status of the Texas power grid. Has the Texas legislature done enough? What should be on the agenda for the 88th legislative session. This event is generously sponsored by NRG, a Reliant Company and Texas Mutual Insurance. This session will be moderated by Trisha Frederick, P.E., FBCC Infrastructure Planning Division Chair, Costello, Inc.
Ed Hirs is a leading energy economist. His work has informed U.S. national security policy under both parties. He is a Co-Founder of Zero Carbon Cycle LLC, a sustainable fuels company, and advisory director to an independent oil and gas company. He is a UH Energy Fellow at the University of Houston where he teaches energy economics and an advisory director to the Energy Industries Council. He founded and co-chairs an annual energy conference at Yale University.
Jacey Jetton is a 7th generation Texan who represents the people of Fort Bend County in the Texas House of Representatives. He serves on the Committees for Redistricting, Public Health, Elections, the Policy Committee for the Texas House Republican Caucus, and the Select Committee on Constitutional Rights and Remedies.
Mark Flathouse is the Emergency Management Coordinator for Fort Bend County. He has been Fire Marshal since 2013. Mr. Flathouse has over twenty years of experience in public service: eight years in the United States Coast Guard with search and rescue and over twelve years as a Firefighter/ Peace Officer and EMT.
Bill Barnes is Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs for NRG located in Austin. He is responsible for covering ERCOT market design issues for the retail and wholesale markets, providing market analysis, commercial advice, and regulatory advocacy.
