Beginning January 1, 2025, Sugar Land residents will see changes in their utility bills.

From the City of Sugar Land:

The holiday season can be busy—and so can our budgets. As we get ready for the new year, we want to remind you that starting January 1, 2025, Sugar Land residents will see changes in their utility bills, including increases in water, solid waste, and stormwater rates.

What to Expect in 2025:
Water Rates: Residents using 10,000 gallons per month will see an increase of about $3 per month, while those using 5,000 gallons will see about a $2 increase.
Solid Waste Rates: Trash collection rates will increase by $1.04, bringing the monthly rate to $21.88.
Stormwater Residential Rates:
0 – 3,500 sq. ft. impervious area: $2.06/month
3,501 – 4,800 sq. ft. impervious area: $3.08/month
4,801+ sq. ft. impervious area: $4.62/month

Why the Change? These adjustments help maintain the city’s water infrastructure, meet future needs, and keep our community thriving. Utility rates fund essential services and long-term projects—not supported by sales or property taxes.
