Police arrest an aggravated robbery suspect.

From Sugar Land Police:

On February 7, 2019 an aggravated robbery occurred at the Walgreens store located in the 4700 block of Sweetwater. Multiple males entered the store armed with handguns and took cash. Detectives coordinated with other agencies including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety during the investigation and learned that the group was believed to be responsible for many robberies around the Houston Metro area.

On February 12, 2019 the group robbed another Walgreens store located near Katy where investigators were able to apprehend two suspects. SLPD Detectives obtained a confession from one of the suspects for our robbery and an arrest warrant was served on him today at the Fort Bend County jail for aggravated robbery.

The suspect is identified as Joshua Dewayne Prater, 21 year old male from Houston. Mr. Prater currently is booked into the Fort Bend County jail on a $225,000 combined bond for the robberies. We would like to thank the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Division and the Texas Department of Public Safety including the Texas Rangers for their assistance with this investigation.
